Veteran Kannada filmmaker, actor and director Dwarakish, who breathed his last on Tuesday at the age of 81, was given a state funeral in Bengaluru. Starting from PM Narendra Modi, a number of celebrities including Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and actors Rajinikanth, Yash and Kiccha Sudeepa expressed their condolences to the actor’s fans and family.

Yash Pays Tribute To Late Kannada Actor Dwarakish

Rocking star Yash paid his last respects to veteran Kannada filmmaker, actor, and director Dwarakish, who breathed his last at the age of 81 on Tuesday.

The final rites of Dwarakish were carried out with full state honours today at the T R Mill crematorium in Chamarajpet, Bengaluru. His eldest son Santosh performed the last rites with Karnataka police, honouring the veteran by firing three rounds in the air as a mark of respect to the departed soul.

Yash, who paid his last respects before the final rites were conducted, said that Dwarakish was a real inspiration.

“Many take birth and pass away every day. However, life is itself a great opportunity, but it depends on how one utilises it to the fullest. He was a great man. His journey and achievements against all odds, and his contributions to the Kannada film industry make him a real inspiration to all of us. Kannada people and the Kannada film industry will forever remember him for his works,” Yash said.

Last Rites Performed With Full State Honours

Before the final rites were performed, the body of Dwarakish was brought to Raveendra Kalashetra for the public to pay their last respects.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences on X while remembering Dwarakish’s contribution to the film industry.

“Dwarakish Ji’s contributions to the film industry are immense, spanning decades of unforgettable performances and groundbreaking films,” he said.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, former chief ministers – B S Yediyurappa, Basavaraj Bommaiah, H D Kumaraswamy and other prominent politicians too expressed their condolences.

The who’s who of Kannada film industry from veteran filmmakers, senior actors, technicians, star actors including Darshan, Kiccha Sudeepa and many others paid their last respects to Dwarakish.
