Sharmin Segal is making her OTT debut in Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. The eagerly awaited drama revolves around the women of Heeramandi district in pre-Independence India. Heeramandi also stars Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha and Sanjeeda Shaikh alongside Segal. Check out the actress’s look as Alamzeb in the promo below.

After Manisha Koirala’s character video as Mallikajaan, Segal is presented as Alamzeb in this new video. On Instagram, Netflix India wrote, “Apne khwabon ki mohabbat mein haqeeqat se bhi ladhne taiyaar hai woh. The charming Sharmin Segal stars as Alamzeb!”
In the series, Segal’s Alamzeb is the younger daughter of Mallikajaan, the queen courtesan of Heeramandi. Aditi Rao Hydari plays her elder sister Bibbojaan. Alamzeb is touted by her mother to be diamond of Heeramandi and pins all her hopes on her. However, Alamzeb falls in love with a son of a nawab, Tajdar, played by Taha Shah Badussha. She longs to break free from the world of Heeramandi and enjoys spending her time reading poetry.
About Sharmin Segal
Segal began her career as an assistant director to uncle Bhansali on Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela in 2013. She was an AD on the films Mary Kom, Bajirao Mastani and Gangubai Kathiawadi. Making her debut opposite Meezaan Jafri in Malaal (2019), Segal also went on to act in Hardik Gajjar’s Atithi Bhooto Bhava. Her mother is veteran film editor Bela Segal, who has worked on films like Black, Devdas and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.
