Cleveland Browns have plenty of ways to go with sixth-round pick

A look at the possibility for the Browns at each of their eight current draft picks has reached the point where it really could be anyone. Welcome to the sixth round, where the results can range from Tom Brady to Spurgeon Wynn.

For the Browns, the argument can be made that general manager Andrew Berry’s best draft pick was sixth-round pick Donovan Peoples-Jones, taken in 2020 out of the University of Michigan. Now, he’ll be trying to look for another late-round gem.

The Browns will have made six picks by the time the draft moves into the sixth round on April 29. They have two picks each in the third, fourth and fifth rounds.

So, by the time pick No. 190 comes up on the clock, Berry could very well have decided he’s added enough to the roster, at least through the draft. If he were to keep the pick, though, the possibilities of who he would target are basically anything.

The five players listed below are merely a cross section of the possibilities. One of those includes a player at a position — quarterback — that would seem like the furthest thing needed.

Still, in the sixth round, anything is possible. So time to dive into some of those possibilities.

Pick No. 190: Play a (Clayton) Tune to your (Carrington) Valentine

Depth along the offensive line is always something a team is willing to add. Mafi would be the perfect candidate to be that interior depth piece, as the 6-foot-2, 329-pound former Bruin is a powerful blocker built perfectly for the Browns’ scheme. … Miller is very much in the mold of current Browns middle linebacker Anthony Walker Jr., in terms of physicality, toughness and leadership. The former Gator has a knack for flying to the football, and was one of the better run-stoppers in the SEC. … The Browns’ efforts to rework the defensive line is going to continue even past the draft. Redmond would be an ideal fit for them, as the former Sooner brings agility and quickness, which new defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz could utilize his benefit. … Yes, the Browns do have three quarterbacks already on the roster (Deshaun Watson, Josh Dobbs, Kellen Mond). However, that doesn’t preclude taking a developmental one, and Tune has reportedly had pre-draft contact with the team. … Cornerback wouldn’t seem to be a need for the Browns, but in a passing league, one can never have enough. Valentine is a physical, aggressive cornerback who could, if nothing else, provide special-teams help early.
