Gavin Bragg leads Licking Valley baseball past Granville

Gavin Bragg doubled and singled, scored a run and drove in three Monday, powering the Licking Valley baseball team to a 7-4 victory against visiting Granville in Licking County League-Buckeye Division play.

Hayden Rodgers added a double, a run scored and two RBIs and Wyatt Binckley and Brenden Moore a hit, a run scored and an RBI apiece for the Panthers (3-0, 2-0). Binckley also struck out five and allowed two hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Owen Hoenie had two hits and a run scored, Nolan Tracy two hits and an RBI and Jacob Smith and Lewis Turner a hit and a run scored apiece for the Blue Aces (4-2, 1-1).

Flint leads Newark to win

Tyler Flint struck out six in five three-hit scoreless innings, helping Newark earn a 5-4 victory at Pickerington Central in Ohio Capital Conference-Buckeye Division play.

Bodie Smith walked twice and scored two runs, including the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh inning, and Moses Crane also scored twice for the Wildcats (5-2-1, 1-1). Flint and Jayce Dansby added a hit and an RBI apiece.

Johnstown beats Northridge

Jacob Myers totaled three hits and two RBIs for Johnstown in a 9-1 victory against visiting Northridge in LCL-Cardinal play.

Myers also struck out seven in five innings. Evan Harper tripled and singled and scored three runs, and Chase Boroff added two hits and a run scored and Clay Bruning two hits and an RBI for the Johnnies (3-2, 1-1), who broke it open with a six-run fifth inning.

Tate Elliott allowed two earned runs in four innings for the Vikings (0-6, 0-3). Layne Mercer had two hits, Dain Levalley a hit and a run scored and Alex Wright a hit and an RBI.

Lakewood edges Utica

Nate Gall’s RBI double and Tyler Bebout’s following RBI single in the sixth inning gave Lakewood a 4-2 victory against visiting Utica in LCL-Cardinal paly.

Cayden MacDonald matched Gall with a single and a double, and Colton Ferry singled and scored with Hayden Ferry doubling in a run for the Lancers (4-4, 3-0). Bebout struck out seven and allowed one hit in 5 2/3 innings with Mason Sprankle getting the final four outs.

Matt Hite had a hit and run scored for Utica (3-5, 0-3). Tyler Collura and Ryan Bigler added a hit apiece and Gavin Chinn a run scored.

Heights blanks Zanesville

Eli Hickman racked up two hits, three runs scored and three RBIs, leading Licking Heights to a 12-0 victory against visiting Zanesville (2-7, 0-3) in LCL-Buckeye play.

Tyler VonBargen added two hits, including a double, and two RBIs, Devin Burke a double and two RBIs and Jake Lopinto a hit, two runs scored and two RBIs for the Hornets (4-3, 2-1). Cody Czuckowitz and Chris Harvey combined to strike out six in a two-hitter.

GCA drops road game

Andrew Benvie totaled three hits, including a double, a run scored and an RBI for Granville Christian in a 10-3 loss at Shekinah Christian in Mid-Ohio Christian Athletic League play.

Josh Benvie added a hit and two runs scored and Jayce Heisler a hit for the Lions (0-2, 0-2). Bentley Johnson struck out five in 2 2/3 innings.

SOFTBALL

Heath beats NC

Renae Cunningham, who homered, and Shelby Moore, who doubled, combined for six hits, four runs scored and six RBIs, powering Heath to a 9-7 victory at Newark Catholic in LCL-Cardinal play.

Kyndall Spicer added two hits and two runs scored and Sydney Cottrell a hit and two runs scored for the Bulldogs (6-2, 3-0). Sydney Chapman struck out eight.

Avery Nagel and Kami Diaz each homered for the Green Wave (4-2, 2-1), combining for four RBIs, and Maris Knowlton added three hits, two runs scored and an RBI. Nagel also struck out four in 3 2/3 scoreless innings of relief.

Granville wins at Valley

Megan Lodge homered as a part of a 3-for-3 day, scoring three runs and driving in two, muscling Granville to an 11-0 victory at Licking Valley in LCL-Buckeye play.

Sophia Patena added two hits, including a triple, two runs scored and two RBIs, Ally Ernsberger two hits and two RBIs, Morgan Layne two hits and a run scored and Rowan Jordan a hit and two RBIs for the Blue Aces (6-1, 2-1). Ernsberger also struck out four in a three-hitter.

Sylvie Devore, Abbe McNabb and Rylee Pitt each singled for the Panthers (3-3, 1-3).

Lakewood beats Utica

Becca Streets was a perfect 4-for-4, scoring two runs and driving in three for Lakewood during an 11-6 victory against visiting Utica in LCL-Cardinal play.

Abby Colley added three hits and three RBIs, Rachel Crist a hit, two runs scored and an RBI and Dani Stewart a hit and two runs scored for the Lancers (5-3-1, 1-2). Stewart struck out four and allowed one earned run in three innings of relief.
