Licking County softball teams deliver power surge6


DRESDEN ― Visiting Watkins Memorial softball smashed seven home runs Tuesday, two apiece by Maleya Thompson and Jordyn Wycuff, in a 17-2 rout of Tri-Valley.

Thompson hit a pair of two-run shots, went 5-for-5 and had four RBIs for the Warriors (5-0). Wycuff had a three-run and solo blast and also singled for 5 RBIs, Taylor Gerhardt added a solo homer, double and single, Kendal Tellings had a three-run homer and Cortney Dobbs a solo home run. Christina Kilkenny rapped a double and two singles.

Carsyn Cassady and Tellings combined for a 3-hitter with eight strikeouts.

Nelson, Royster star

Brooke Nelson went 4-for-4 with two solo homers, a double and single with four RBIs, while winning reliever Syncere Royster hit two-run and solo home runs for visiting Newark in a 13-10 win against Bloom-Carroll on Tuesday.
