Johnstown boys basketball edged late at Bexley



The Johnstown boys basketball team rallied from a six-point deficit to tie going into the fourth quarter but a five-point final eight minutes Friday left the Johnnies just behind in a 40-37 loss at No. 4 Bexley in a Division II second-round game.

Cody Siegfried totaled 13 points and eight rebounds for the No. 6 Johnnies (14-10). Caleb Schneider added nine points and two assists, Drew Brett seven points and Brady Barb six on a pair of 3-pointers.

Heights falls on road

Licking Heights got as close as two points in the third quarter before No. 5 Dublin Jerome was able to pull away and survive the upset bid.

The No. 35 Hornets (13-11) led 11-10 after the first quarter before trailing 28-22 at halftime. Luke Kuhlman’s 28 points for the Celtics were the difference.
