Newark Catholic’s Pribonic, Granville relays reach state swim final
Isabella Pribonic and two Granville relays will swim for a state championship on Friday.
Pribonic, a Newark Catholic sophomore, qualified fourth with a time of 1:05.98 in the 100 breaststroke during Thursday’s preliminaries in Canton.
Granville’s foursome of seniors Hannah Hardin and Brooke Lemert, sophomore Lydia Sturgeon and freshman Grace Largent also qualified fourth with a time of 1:49.33 in the 200 medley relay. Hardin, Lemert, Sturgeon and senior Caroline Otter qualified fifth with a time of 3:37.55 in the 400 free relay.
Qualifying for the B-final were Hardin in the 50 free (24.08) and 100 free (52.60) and Pribonic in the 200 individual medley (2:09.49).
In the boys meet, Lakewood’s Austin Masters qualified for the B-final in the 50 free (22.03) and 100 free (48.67) as did Granville’s Jacob Teter, Josh Remlinger, Nolan Schneider and Dakotta Baillargeon in the 200 free relay (1:30.17) and Teter, Remlinger, Schneider and Miles Baker in the 400 free relay (3:21.06).
Also competing in the girls meet were Granville’s Lemert in the 200 free (1:59.83) and 500 free (5:27.75) and Sturgeon in the 100 backstroke (59.63), Northridge’s Alexandra Cannone in the 50 free (25.35) and 100 free (56.15) and NC’s Ella Schirtzinger in the 100 butterfly (1:02.29).
Also competing in the boys meet were Remlinger in the 200 free (1:49.41) and 100 fly (54.66), Schneider in the 500 free (4:54.46) and Teter in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.94).
