Licking Valley inducts four softball stars into Hall of Fame


Four former star softball players recently were inducted into the Licking Valley Athletic Hall of Fame. Three of the four led the Panthers to a Division II state championship in 2013, also winning three district championships and two regional championships.

Brooke Nethers, a 2009 graduate, was named to All-Ohio first team her junior and senior season on the diamond, earning Central District Player of the Year honors as a senior. She earned all-league and all-district honors three times, and she also was a two-year letterman in basketball.

Brooke Nethers was inducted into the Licking Valley Athletic Hall of Fame earlier this month.

Kori Caughenbaugh, a 2015 graduate, was named to the All-Ohio softball first team three times, earning Central District Player of the Year honors her junior and senior seasons and all-league honors all four years. She finished with a .587 career batting average and ranks third on the Ohio High School Athletic Association all-time list with 259 hits.

Caughenbaugh also earned all-league honors in three times apiece in soccer and basketball.

Carly Skeese, Shelby McCombs and Kori Caughenbaugh, members of the 2013 Division II state softball champions, were inducted into the Licking Valley Athletic Hall of Fame earlier this month.

Carly Skeese, a 2015 graduate, received All-Ohio softball honors as a senior and all-league and all-district honors all four seasons. She also earned three volleyball letters and two basketball letters.

Shelby McCombs, a 2015 graduate, received All-Ohio softball honors three times, named to the first team and Pitcher of the Year as a junior. She also earned all-league and all-district honors.
