Heath girls basketball wins, sets up title fight with Newark Catholic

Taliyah Holmes recorded 21 points Wednesday, igniting the Heath girls basketball team in a 48-37 victory against visiting Licking Valley in Licking County League play.

Peyton DelCecato added 14 points and Caroline Robertson seven for the Bulldogs (15-5, 11-3), who play at Newark Catholic at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday with an opportunity to win an outright Cardinal Division title.

Rylee Hillis led the Panthers (4-15, 3-10) with 14 points. Avery Williams added 12.

Johnstown outlasts Watkins

Lauren Baughman totaled 16 points and 10 rebounds, muscling Johnstown past visiting Watkins Memorial for a 40-34 victory in double-overtime in LCL play.

Abigail Adkins scored seven of her 11 points in the two overtime periods and Kylie Sharp added 10 points for the Johnnies (12-7, 10-4), who remained one game behind Heath and Newark Catholic in the Cardinal Division.

Kalleigh Rennie totaled 12 points and four steals, Shelby Lott seven points and Ella Perry 11 rebounds for the Warriors (14-7, 9-5).

Utica beats Heights

Abby Dickson racked up 25 points, fueling Utica (8-12, 4-10) in a 50-32 victory against visiting Licking Heights (3-16, 1-12) in LCL play.

Granville wins at Northridge

Harper Annarino’s 14 first-quarter points shot Granville out to a 22-6 lead at Northridge in a 56-16 victory in LCL play.

Annarino totaled 24 points for the Blue Aces (18-1, 13-0). Ava Gossman, who became the program’s winningest player, added 11 and Aliyah Moore and Delaney Varrasso six apiece.

Darla Dorman led the Vikings (6-13, 4-10) with five points.
