Licking Valley boys basketball slips past Zanesville
The Licking Valley boys basketball team overcame a six-point deficit at halftime Tuesday, rallying for a 56-54 victory at Zanesville in Licking County League-Buckeye Division play.
Chase Vermilion led three Panthers (5-7, 4-3) in double figures with 15 points. Jacob Wheeler added 11 points and Jacob Curry 10.
Rashaud Hampton led the Blue Devils (1-10, 1-5) with 24 points.
Heath edges Johnstown
Preston DeVito scored seven of his team-high 13 points in overtime, leading Heath to a 50-42 victory against visiting Johnstown in LCL-Cardinal play.
Ben Mason added 12 points and Jaxon Duston 10 points, seven rebounds and four assists for the Bulldogs (7-2, 4-2).
Brady Barb hit four 3-pointers to total 12 points for the Johnnies (6-6, 4-3). Cody Siegfried added 10 points, six rebounds and three assists and Drew Brett nine points.
Rader leads Granville
Rex Rader’s 16 points led Granville to a 50-30 victory against visiting Watkins Memorial in LCL-Buckeye play.
Dylan Niedermeyer added 13 points and Dante Varrasso eight for the Blue Aces (7-6, 5-1). Sam Johnson’s 13 points led the Warriors (5-6, 1-5).
Utica beats NC
Utica shot out to a 28-11 lead after one quarter, rolling to a 73-52 victory against visiting Newark Catholic in LCL-Cardinal play.
Trenton Collins led Utica (10-2, 5-1) with 26 points. Brody McDaniel added 16 points, Dylan Yates 13 and Roman Gamble nine.
Eli Morris led the Green Wave (2-9, 1-6) with 19 points, and Braylon Bates added 16, hitting four 3-pointers.
Northridge wins
Northridge held visiting Lakewood to nine points in the first half, earning a 34-21 victory in LCL-Cardinal play.
Carter Mallernee led the Vikings (8-2, 6-1) with 11 points. Braden Knerr and Ian Travis added six points apiece.
Adam Crawford led the Lancers (1-12, 0-6) with eight points, and Stephen Slocum added seven.
Liberty edged
Liberty Christian dropped a hard-fought 38-32 game to visiting Tree of Life in Mid-Ohio Christian Athletic League play.
Josh Onabanjo led the Eagles (4-7, 2-3) with 10 points and eight rebounds. Evan Adair added nine points, and Luke Mollohan led the defensive charge.
GCA falls
Andrew Benvie scored 14 points for Granville Christian in a 42-33 loss to visiting Genoa Christian.
Zac Leija and Eli Cooper added six points apiece for the Lions (2-8).
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Newark wins on road
Brie Gingras made five 3-pointers as a part of a 28-point performance, shooting Newark to a 57-37 victory at Pickerington North.
Jenna Shackleford added 11 points and Sophie Bidwell 12 rebounds and four steals for the Wildcats (7-6).
GCA drops road game
Ella Rhoads totaled 19 points, making five 3-pointers for Granville Christian in a 61-47 loss at Genoa Christian.
Skyler Weekley added 10 points for the Lions (6-4).
