Miyan Williams available for Ohio State vs. UGA in Peach Bowl
ATLANTA — Ohio State will have running back Miyan Williams available for its College Football Playoff semifinal against Georgia on Saturday, coach Ryan Day said.
“He’ll be ready to go,” Day said Friday.
Williams missed practice earlier this week because of an illness that was described as a stomach bug, but returned for Thursday’s practice and was seen stretching and going through position drills during a media viewing period.
The availability of Williams, the Buckeyes’ leading rusher who has run for 817 yards and 13 touchdowns, is significant for a backfield that is already without TreVeyon Henderson after he underwent season-ending foot surgery.
Williams has also been dealing with an ankle injury suffered against Indiana last month, but said earlier during playoff practice that he was feeling closer to full strength.
The ankle injury limited him to only eight carries in the Buckeyes’ loss to Michigan to end the regular season and sidelined him for the previous week’s trip to Maryland.
Ohio State is scheduled to go through a walk-through at 1:30 p.m. to wrap up its week of preparation for the semifinal matchup with the Bulldogs.
