John Johnson III starting at safety for Cleveland Browns vs. Saints
CLEVELAND − Safety John Johnson III will be in the Browns’ defensive starting lineup on Saturday when they play host to the New Orleans Saints.
Johnson was the lone Browns player whose status was in question coming into the day. He was listed as questionable on the game status report on Thursday with a thigh injury, but was not among the inactive players.
That leaves only defensive end Jadeveon Clowney as a injury-related inactive for the Browns. Clowney, who was ruled out on Thursday, remains in concussion protocol after leaving last Saturday’s win over the Baltimore Ravens.
Center Ethan Pocic, who was activated from the injured reserve list on Friday, was in the starting lineup. It’s the first time he’s played since sustaining a knee injury on Nov. 20 against the Buffalo Bills in Detroit.
The other inactive players for the Browns will be quarterback Kellen Mond, receiver Jaelen Darden, running back Demetric Felton Jr., cornerback Thomas Graham and offensive tackle Chris Hubbard.
Ex-Ohio State Buckeyes Chris Olave, Marson Lattimore, Pete Werner inactive for Saints
Three former Ohio State Buckeye standouts will not play Saturday for the Saints against the Browns. Those players are receiver Chris Olave (hamstring), cornerback Marshon Lattimore (abdominal) and linebacker Pete Werner (hamstring).
Also inactive was ex-Browns receiver Jarvis Landry, who is expected to be placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury. The rest of the New Orleans inactives are running back Dwayne Washington, safety Marcus Maye, defensive lineman Payton Turner and offensive lineman Lewis Kidd.
