How Will Trevor Lawrence Fare in the Rain?
Like Zach Wilson, Trevor Lawrence saw his fair share of struggles during his rookie season. But under Super Bowl-winning head coach Doug Pederson’s tutelage, Lawrence has ascended to new heights in his sophomore year to potentially launch Jacksonville to their first postseason since they reached the AFC Championship in 2017.
Lawrence has generally been fantastic, but he’s had a few clunkers. One came early in the year against arguably the league’s best team, the Philadelphia Eagles. This game at Philadelphia was the only one where weather played a significant role – high winds and rains led to one of Lawrence’s worst starts of 2022, in which he turned the ball over five times in a loss.
Tonight’s forecast calls for 45 degrees with solid rain showers and winds hovering around 12 to 15 mph. It’ll be an excellent test for Lawrence and this red-hot Jaguars offense.
Can the Jets’ Defense Continue to Dominate?
If Zach Wilson continues to struggle under center, the Jets defense may have to steal a victory in tonight’s Thursday Night duel.
According to FootballOutsiders, the Jets are number six in all of the NFL in their DVOA metric for defensive efficiency. The NFL announced the league’s Pro Bowlers this week – New York has four, three of which play on the defensive side of the football.
One of them, Quinnen Williams, missed last week’s contest against the Lions. Williams, one of the league’s best interior defensive linemen, is expected to be in the lineup for tonight’s game. Against a banged-up Jaguars offensive line, Williams and co. could do some serious damage.
