What channel is the Pac-12 Championship game on? OSU fans need to know
The Ohio State football team lost to bitter rival Michigan last week, but the dream of making the 2022 College Football Playoff is still very much alive.
The Buckeyes (11-1 overall) just need some help this weekend.
The difference between OSU going to the College Football Playoff, the Rose Bowl or some other bowl game will likely be decided by these Power 5 championship games:
- The Pac-12 Championship Game between USC and Utah
- The Big 12 Championship Game between TCU and Kansas State
But anything can happen and there are three other Power 5 championship games this weekend.

So, Ohio State Buckeyes fans, if you thought your Friday night and Saturday was free this weekend, you’re wrong. It’s going to be a long weekend from 8 p.m. Friday to the early hours of Sunday.
Here’s how to watch those games.
First: When is the College Football Playoff Selection Show?
The College Football Playoff Selection Show is Dec. 4 at noon on ESPN.
When is the Pac-12 Championship Game? Yes, USC vs. Utah is on Friday
Every Mid-American Conference football fan knows that the best way to own the college football spotlight is to play on a day no one expects college football to be played. And no Power 5 conference looks at the MAC and says “I want some of that action” more than the Pac-12 (probably).
That’s right, the Pac-12 Championship Game kickoff at 8 p.m. Friday in Las Vegas between soon-to-be Big Ten member No. 4 USC (11-1) and No. 11 Utah (9-3). The Utes, who Ohio State beat in the Rose Bowl last season, already defeated USC this season.
A win by Utah could propel Ohio State in the CFP top-4 before ESPN “College GameDay” is even underway Saturday morning.
The Pac-12 Championship Game is on Fox with Jason Benetti and Brock Huard on the call.
What channel is TCU football game on against Kansas State in the Big 12 Championship Game?
ABC gets the Big 12 Championship Game at noon on Saturday with Kirk Herbstreit and Chris Fowler on the call. The undefeated No. 3-ranked TCU Horned Frogs (12-0) play No. 10 Kansas State (9-3).
This will be the most controversial talking point if TCU were to lose and Ohio State was selected over the Horned Frogs. TCU will be 12-1 and Big 12 regular season champions and played more ranked teams than Ohio State this season (Texas, Kansas State twice, Oklahoma State and Baylor).
Does the SEC Championship Game winner matter for Ohio State’s CFP chances?
Anything can happen, but the undefeated reigning national champion and No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs (12-0) feel as close to a lock as any team to make the playoff, including No. 2 Michigan.
Georgia plays No. 14 LSU, which is 9-3 overall. Had LSU avoided a loss to sputtering Texas A&M last week, this would be a different story. But the Aggies upset LSU 38-23. A Georgia loss may impact their placement in the top 4, but something would have to go very bad for Georgia not to be selected on Sunday.
What channel is the Big Ten Championship Game on between Purdue and Michigan?
The Big Ten Championship Game features the Big Ten East champion, Michigan (12-0), and the Big Ten West survivor, Purdue (8-4). The Boilermakers get Michigan close to home in Indianapolis at Lucas Oil Stadium and the game will kick off at 8 p.m.
Purdue didn’t play Michigan in the regular season and have won three-straight games since losing to Iowa 24-3 on Nov. 5. The Boilermakers beat Indiana 30-16 last week clinch the division title.
Michigan is close to a lock for the CFP, but there is a scenario where Georgia loses, Michigan wins and Ohio State makes the field to set up a rematch of Ohio State-Michigan that would be a TV ratings bonanza. A loss by TCU and USC that propels to OSU to No. 3 could do the same thing.
But this game matters because if USC and TCU win and Michigan wins, it could very well send Ohio State to the Rose Bowl for the second straight year.
Wait, should Ohio State football fans watch the ACC Championship Game?
Lol. No.
You can probably skip this one on ABC. No. 21 North Carolina and No. 9 Clemson both have multiple loses, so it’s unlikely either would jump ahead of Ohio State, who can only suffer an emotional loss this weekend, not an actual loss.
