Democrat running for Delaware’s 6th district Senate seat believes district can be

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del.- Delawareans have made their choice for the Democratic nominee for State Senate District 6. Following a victory during Tuesday’s Primary, winner Russ Huxtable says he has a plan to flip the traditionally conservative seat that covers Rehoboth Beach, Dewey Beach, and Lewes.

The seat is up for grabs after the retirement of Republican Ernie Lopez, with Huxtable set to face Republican Steven Smyk and Independent Wendy, Jones.

Huxtable tells 47ABC that the district now has a plurality of liberal voters, and he plans to motivate them and moderates from across the district by focusing on issues of infrastructure, conservation, and better urban planning for his campaign.

“We want to bring more resources in to help with traffic and infrastructure we want to tackle environmental issues, health care capacity affordable housing things that have gone unaddressed,” Huxtable said.

He tells us he believes the issues are bipartisan, but believes Republican control of the district has not yielded the improvements voters want.

“I am going up against someone with a long record, but I have my own record of building affordable housing and we can see in that same time this is an issue that is not being solved or resolved here and voters are looking for a change, which I believe means flipping this seat,” he said.

The general election day is set for November 8th.
