Drew Barrymore and ex Justin Long reflect on their ‘hedonistic’ romance in

Drew Barrymore couldn’t hold back her emotions as she reunited with her ex Justin Long on her self-titled chat show on Sunday. 

The actress, 47, wiped away tears as she was joined on The Drew Barrymore Show by the actor, 44, whom she used to date from 2007 until 2010, admitting she will ‘always love’ him.

The Charlie’s Angels star embraced her ex, before the pair sat down in the studio to reminisce on the ‘hedonistic’ days of their relationship, saying they have ‘been through so much together’.

Drew said: ‘I will always love you so much. You were so important to me. I really am, I’m really grateful. I feel like we’ve been through so much together.

‘When we used to talk and Facetime I was always like, “You know I’ve really grown up Justin.” I always wanted to prove to you what a different person I was then when we dated.’

Justin replied: ‘You were the best. That’s what we did, we laughed so much, like that was so much a part of our connection was that we love funny people, we enjoy laughing at all times. 

‘I love that we maintained our love because I know for my end it will never go away. I love you always. I am glad that we are able to still have that. I mean that. I’ll always love you.’

Drew added: ‘We had so much fun but we were more hedonistic. A little more immature. We would get together, we would breakup. It was chaos, it was hella-fun.’

Justin reflected: ‘Fun chaos, well yeah, most hedonism is fun.’ 

Drew cut a stylish figure as she kicked off her third series of her chat show in a chic cream suit and towering platform heels. 

Justin wore a navy checked long sleeved top with khaki trousers and white trainers. 

Drew had previously teased catching up with her ex-boyfriend to ET Canada, she said: ‘This season we’re kicking off with an extraordinary bang… My ex-boyfriend Justin Long comes on for the premiere episode. 

‘We talk about the good times, we honour his partner and it’s just personal.’ 

Justin has been dating actress Kate Bosworth, 39, since 2021, while Drew is a single mother to her two daughters Olive, nine, and Frankie, eight, after divorcing husband Will Kopelman in 2016.

Gushing over her ex’s new relationship, Drew said: ‘I could not be happier for you. It’s all I want in life is your success and happiness.

‘It’s true and I’m so happy that you are in this also amazing relationship. I’m just so happy because you deserve to be happy. I’m so thrilled for you.’

The feeling seemed to be mutual, with Justin saying Kate ‘adores’ Drew and insisting the pair ‘would love hanging out’.

He said: ‘She does all those things. And she adores you. She is the most supportive, most wonderful. You would love hanging out with her. We’ll all go out together.’

Drew has previously had plenty of positive reflections on her time with Justin.

In July, she said on her talk show: ‘I didn’t get why we were ever an interesting couple. That didn’t make any sense to me. Like, who cares? We’re not exciting.’ 

The former couple met while playing long-distance lovers on the set of 2010 romantic comedy Going The Distance.

Drew added: ‘We’re not the first people to meet on the set and have a romance. I was very much in love with Justin.

‘He is funny. The sharpest wit. You want to know why he gets all the ladies? Well, there’s a few reasons, but he’s brilliant. He’ll just knock your socks off with laughter.’
