3 cases of monkeypox confirmed in Jefferson County

WELL VICKI THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT HERE SAYS THAT TWO OF THESE THREE CONFIRMED CASES WERE CONTRACTED WHILE TRAVELING OUTSIDE OF THIS AREA. STILL HEALTH OFFICIALS ARE WORKING VERY HARD TO MAKE SURE THOSE CASES ARE CONTAINED. WITH TWO MORE CASES OF MONKEY POX NOW CONFIRMED IN THE LOUISVILLE METRO HEALTH OFFICIALS ARE STRESSING. ONE THING THIS VIRUS IS NOT EASILY SPREAD I TEND TO SHED THIS VIRUS IN THE BODILY FLUIDS THIS INCLUDES FROM THE SORES THAT PEOPLE GET FROM SALIVA AND OTHER BODILY SECRETIONS, DR. JEFFREY HOWARD WHO SERVES AS INTERIM DIRECTOR OF THE LOUISVILLE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH AND WELLNESS SAYS THERE IS AN ORAL TREATMENT FOR THE VIRUS AS WELL AS A VACCINE BUT WIDESPREAD VACCINATION IS NOT CURRENTLY RECOMMENDED THE CDC IS VERY AND KIND OF LIMITED ON WHO SHOULD RECEIVE THE VACCINE AT THIS POINT. AND SO THOSE FOLKS THAT WE HAVE VACCINATED HAVE BEEN CLOSE CONTACTS OF THE INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE TESTED POSITIVE RIGHT NOW THEIR ADVISING THE PUBLIC TO SIMPLY BE AWARE OF THE SIGNS OF THE VIRUS EARLY SYMPTOMS CAN MIMIC THOSE OF THE FLU, BUT THE TELL-TALE SIGN SHOWS UP ON THE SKIN THIS RASH MIGHT LOOK LIKE PIMPLES OR LITTLE BLISTERS AND THEY THEY WILL EVENTUALLY SCAB OR ACTUALLY DRAIN FLUID IN THIS GAP OVER CONTACT WITH THIS RASH CAN SPREAD THE VIRUS ONE OF THE PATIENTS HAS ALREADY RECOVERED WHILE THE OTHER TWO REMAIN IN ISOLATION. YOU SHOULD BE ISOLATED UNTIL THE LESIONS HAVE SCABBED OVER THE SCAB HAS COME OFF AND THERE’S NEW SKIN FORMS THERE IF YOU DO HAPPEN TO CATCH THE VIRUS HEALTH OFFICIALS SAY YOU SHOULDN’T WORRY UNLESS YOU HAVE A WEAKENED IMMUNE SYSTEM IN GENERAL MONKEY POX IS NOT A VERY DEADLY VIRUS WITH A SURVIVAL OF MORE THAN 99 IT AND SYMPTOMS ARE USUALLY FAIRLY MILD FOR MOST PEOPLE. NOW IF YOU THINK YOU MIGHT BE DISPLAYING SYMPTOMS OF THE VIRUS OR YOU HAVE COME IN CLOSE CONTACT WITH SOMEONE WHO HAS A CONFIRMED CASE CONTACT YOUR PRIMARY CARE HEALTH PROVIDER IMMEDIATELY AND ASKS THAT YOU GET A TEST REPORTING LIVE AT THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH AN
