Arnold Lee Jack Obituary – The Columbus Dispatch

Jack, Arnold Lee

1938 – 2022

Arnold Lee Jack passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on April 27, 2022. Arnie was born on July 30, 1938 in Charleston, West Virginia. He was the son of the late Oval F. Jack and Kathryn Gwinn Jack. “Arnie” as he was known, graduated from Uhrichsville High School and earned his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Kent State University in 1960. While at Kent State, he was active in student counsel and was an Alpha Tau Delta fraternity member. Arnie earned his Juris Doctor from the Moritz College of Law at The Ohio State University in 1964, all while working and supporting himself through school. He never forgot where he came from and one of his favorite sayings was “Don’t get above your ‘raisen’.” In his professional career he started his own private law practice. Throughout the years his practice included adoptions, real estate, domestic relations and later on, Estate planning. Arnie received the 50 years of honorable service award from The Bar of Ohio, and continued to practice up until his death. When acquaintances inquired as to why he was still practicing law, he would answer that he was “trying to get better”. Always proud of his roots, career and grit, Arnie quietly and humbly touched the lives of countless people! He was an incredible listener and willing to help anyone who crossed his path. His close friends watched Arnie grow from a young, enterprising attorney to a studious investor. Arnie was a member of the First Baptist Church on Broad Street in downtown Columbus. Arnie contributed hours to the ministry advisory and local programs, and was instrumental in establishing a Christian Bookstore named LOGOS Bookstore which was located on High Street across from the Ohio Union. Later on, Arnie was very active with Hillcrest Baptist Church. He generously donated his time and talents to the church programs and community. Arnie had many passions and hobbies. He spent years playing basketball at the Athletic Club of Columbus and enjoyed softball and golf leagues. It’s an understatement to say Arnie had a passion for wine, entertaining and good conversation! Arnie enjoyed travel and vacationed to areas including northern Michigan, “sunny” Florida and skiing “out west”. Most importantly he considered himself blessed to have many opportunities to support, celebrate and brag about his children’s and grandchildren’s lives, always eager to attend a family or sporting event. Arnold Lee Jack is preceded in death by his parents and sister Shirley (Larry) Biggs. Arnie is survived by his three children, Timothy (Haejin) Jack, daughters, Jennifer Jack Israel and Lindsay (Christopher) Jack Miller; seven grandchildren, Skyler Russell, Jacob Israel, Timothy Jack, Wesley Jack, Lonnie Jack, Roy Miller and Cora Miller; sisters, Bonnie Jack and Sue (Richard) Crites; many nieces and nephews and his sweet Rachel. A private service will be held at Union Cemetery in Uhrichsville, Ohio and a Celebration of Life will be held this summer, to be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions in his name can be made to Jack Family Scholarship Fund at Kent State; 350 South Lincoln Street, Kent, Ohio 44242 or online giving: http://ksu.convio.net/Jack or Hillcrest Baptist Church, 2480 W.
