Cuyahoga County Sheriff Resigns Suddenly, Citing ‘Personal Reasons’

After a little more than a year on the job, Cuyahoga County Sheriff Christopher Viland has resigned. Viland took over a beleaguered department beset by jailhouse deaths and investigations.

Viland cited “personal reasons” for his departure. He is the second sheriff to resign after just a year in office.
The county has struggled to hire enough corrections officers to staff the jail, according to wksu.org. The county is currently planning to build a new jail.
Viland served as inspector general for the Cleveland Department of Public Safety prior to his appointment and confirmation at sheriff. Previously, he was chief of police in Solon from 2011 to 2019. He climbed the ranks from patrol officer to detective, sergeant, lieutenant and detective lieutenant.
County Executive Armond Budish, who has just six months left in his term, will appoint a new sheriff.

TSA Agent’s Gun Stolen At Hopkins Airport

Guns and airplanes don’t mix. Apparently, firearms have been disappearing from the parking lots of Cleveland Hopkins International Airport with some regularity. In the latest case to go public, a TSA agent’s weapon was stolen from his car.

Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson’s attorney wants the medical records of the women who’ve accused Watson of sexual misconduct. Among the 22 women, four have provided records that show they’ve sought counseling.

Browns Address Positions Of Need In 2022 Draft

The best thing about draft night for the Cleveland Browns was pro wrestler and reality TV celebrity Mike “The Miz” Mizanin taking the stage in the third round to finally announce a Browns pick —cornerback Martin Emerson. Here he is interviewing the young man.

Former Browns receiver Andrew Hawkins and his son Austin also announced one of the Browns picks.

The Cleveland Browns drafted a cornerback, two defensive ends, a sure-handed wide receiver, a defensive lineman, a desperately needed kicker, an offensive lineman from Ohio State, and a center this weekend. The Browns didn’t start picking until the third round, having dealt their first rounder to get Deshaun Watson and their second round pick to get more picks later in the draft.
