Trump-Piers Morgan today: Part two of interview looms as supporters call for

Piers Morgan screened the second part of his interview with Donald Trump on Tuesday afternoon, revealing that the former president did not storm out.

A heavily edited trailer for the interview released last week had appeared to suggest that Mr Trump had angrily walked out of the interview amid questions about his so-called “Big Lie” that he really won the 2020 election.

John Bowden has the story:

“He was already simmering with anger about the confrontation about the alleged stolen election,” says Morgan before airing the full Trump walkout of the interview.

The host blamed the ex-president’s “incredibly incompetent” communications director Taylor Budowich for failing to handle the interview before “all hell breaks loose”.

“Listen, this was a 20-minute interview,” Trump said before Morgan distracted him with a question on a hole-in-one.

His seventh. Which isn’t that high, believe it or not.

“That’s was a great interview,” says Morgan.

“Yeah, it’s fine. Turn the camera off,” Trump replies before, indeed, leaving without saying goodbye and walking out.

But, was it storming out?

“Twitter’s now boring,” says Trump in the interview, which was recorded before Elon Musk’s takeover.

“They’re sick, they’re mentally ill, I really believe that,” he added in response to the company allowing Vladimir Putin and other authoritarians.

Trump gave his answer to the toughest question in politics: What is a woman?

“I’m not going to respond to the question,” Trump says, before responding to the question. “But a woman is somebody that swims at a certain time and doesn’t get beaten by 30 seconds by somebody used to be a male.”

“Poor Harry is being led around by his nose, and I think he’s an embarassment,” Trump says, adding he’s never been a fan of Meghan Markle.

“He has been so disrespectful to the country, and it’s a great country, I own a lot of things there,” he adds. “It will be very interesting what happens.”

“They’ve never seen her smile so much,” says Trump of his state visit.

“It was beautiful the pomp and ceremony, no body does it like the English, I don’t know what it is,” he says.

“It was a terrible thing, terrible for a lot of people,” Trump said when asked what he thought about the Prince Andrew “situation”.

The Talk TV host kicked off part II of his Donald Trump interview with a preamble against media criticism, including The Independent Holly Baxter calling his first episode “toe curlingly boring”.

“Her bosses didn’t seem to get the boring memo,” he said, referencing the 20+ stories published about the Trump interiew.

Dr Deborah Birx, White House Covid response coordinator for Donald Trump, says in a new interview that she felt “paralysed” in front of the cameras after her ex-boss suggested injecting disinfectants like bleach to kill the Covid-19 virus.

She spoke with Good Morning America in a wide-ranging interview published on Monday as part of her media tour for the promotion of her new book detailing her time in the Trump administration. Her book release follows a long line of similar publications from ex-Trump administration officials, mostly political appointees unlike Dr Birx, who have sought to capitalise on the allure of an “inside look” into the chaotic inner workings of the government under Mr Trump’s leadership.
