Police Hunt For Hit-And-Run Driver Who Hurt 6-Year-Old Girl

A 6-year-old girl is in critical condition after a hit-and-run driver struck her in the 3100 block of West 50th Street Saturday night. The child is in MetroHealth Medical Center, reports Cleveland 19 News.

  • The woman driving the car sped off, according to Cleveland Police, but authorities have detained a passenger who was in the car. It’s not clear how the passenger came into police custody.
  • Police said the suspect vehicle is a black, four-door sedan. The incident happened shortly after 6 p.m.

Cleveland Powerhouse Cultural Giants Also Produce Big Money

How great is Greater Cleveland’s cultural scene? Not only do the city’s art museum, playhouse square, orchestra and rock hall make us smarter and more sophisticated, they bring in a ton of cash.

The Cleveland Museum of Art, Playhouse Square, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Cleveland Orchestra commissioned a study by the research firm Tourism Economics, which showed that in 2019 the cultural foursome combined to create $822 million for the regional economy.

  • They create or support 6,818 local jobs.
  • Workers in those jobs take home about $261 million.
  • “The four institutions in the study are not only the arts and cultural cornerstones of Greater Cleveland, but as the four largest they are an economic engine responsible for driving significant growth and opportunity in the region,” said Tourism Economics President Adam Sacks.

Elementary, My Dear Watson

Marla Ridenour, writing for Gannett’s Akron Beacon Journal and the Canton Repository, makes an interesting observation about the Deshaun Watson circus and its impact on the 2022 Cleveland Browns season.

For the Browns this season, the Watson headlines will be inescapable. Lawyers on both sides talking. Speculation on the league’s decision. The possibility that some of the women who have filed civil suits will speak out or more will come forward. Watson must provide the names of the massage therapists he saw from June 2, 2019, to June 2, 2020, even if they didn’t file suit, which could bring more issues to light.

With every new wrinkle, the local media will be forced to pose questions, and they won’t be directed only to Watson.
