Cardinals Flock to Ohio for MAC Championships


MUNCIE, Ind – The Ball State women’s golf team heads to Holland, Ohio, and the Stone Oak Country Club for the 2022 Mid-American Conference Championships. This will be a three-day tournament with round one set to start on Friday, April 22, at 9 a.m.
 
Liz Kim, Kiah Parrott, Dylann Armstrong, Hadley Moritz, and Tiegan Taylor will be on the course representing the Cardinals. Ball State looks to improve on a seventh-place finish at last year’s conference championships. Parrott led the 2021 championships as she tied for 21st.
 
Kim leads the team with three top-5 finishes this season. She tied for fourth at the Ball State Cardinal Classic and the Courtney Cole Invitational. She added a tie for fifth at the Rocket Classic. Her average round score for the season is 76.12.
 
Parrott has played in three tournaments this season and has averaged 77.00 per round. Her best finish this season came at the Diane Daugherty Invite where she tied for 18th.
 
Armstrong has appeared in nine events this season and is averaging 80.81 per round. Her best finish was 27th at the Courtney Cole Invitational.
 
Moritz enters the weekend averaging 81.20 per round. She produced the lowest round by a Cardinal this season with a 70 at the Spring Break Shootout and collected her best finish of the season with a tie for 34th.
 
Taylor has played 17 rounds in six events for the season. She is averaging 82.35 per round. Her best finish came at the Courtney Cole Invitational where she placed 34th.
 
Since the 1999 MAC Championships, Ball State has placed second twice, once in 2010 and the other time was in 2012. Katie Sundberg is the lone Cardinal to win an individual title as she won in 2005, while Brittany Kelly produced a second-place finish in 2010.
 
The Cardinals will be joined by Akron, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Toledo, and Western Michigan. The Golden Flashes have won 22-consecutive MAC titles dating back to the 1999 Championship.
 
The Stone Oak Country Club will be a 6,158-yard, par-72 course for the first two rounds and will play 6,109 yards on the final day. All teams will begin from the first hole beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday.
