Maryland Wraps Regular Season Play at Ohio State
COLUMBUS, OH – The Maryland women’s golf team finished sixth at the 40th annual Lady Buckeye Invitational (Apr. 15-16) at their fifth stop of the spring season. Sophomore Patricie Mackova led for the Terps, finishing in solo eighth, posting 77-74-75 (+10). This marks her fourth top-ten finish of the season.
“I’m really proud of Patricie’s performance this week,” said head Kelly Hovland. ” She continues to step up in the biggest events against the best competition. I’m really excited to see what she can do in the next couple of weeks of the postseason because I think she still hasn’t played her best golf!”
Players teed it up over the two-day event at the par-72 – The Ohio State University Golf Club playing at 6,319 yards, home of the Ohio State Buckeyes.

-Junior Maria Vittoria Corbi finished in a three-way tie for 20th (+16) – – (79-76-77))
-Sophomore Karla Elena Vázquez Setzer finished in a five-way tie for 25th (+19) – – (78-79-78)
-Junior Angela Garvin finished in a four-way tie for 30th (+20) – – (82-75-79)
-Freshman Panassaya Somchit finished in a two-way tie for 35th (+22) – – (80-79-79)
-Senior Elena Verticchio finished in a four-way tie for 40th (+25) – – (82-82-77)
From the Coaches Eye – Hovland’s Analysis
“We battled tough conditions through two rounds but did not meet the challenge in the final round,” said coach Hovland. “I’m hopeful this will be a great learning experience for this young team and preparation for the Big 10 Championship next week. It’s a short turnaround to get ready for the year’s biggest event.”
“The spring has been a challenging season for this group, but they have gotten a ton of experience at the highest level,” Hovland continued. “I’m excited what that will mean for this upcoming postseason and in the seasons ahead.”
