Dijon Johnson, 4-star CB, commits to Ohio State football: Buckeyes Recruiting

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football picked up a second Sunday commitment following its Spring Game in Dijon Johnson of Wharton High School in Florida.

The nation’s No. 265 player and No. 29 cornerback chose the Buckeyes over 35 other schools with Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma and USC also considered as finalists. He still has official visits scheduled with the Sooners and Trojans in June, though we’ll see if those still happen.

Johnson’s decision comes as he heads home following an unofficial weekend visit which included attending the Spring Game on Saturday. He is the fourth commit from Florida joining safety Cedrick Hawkins, running back Mark Fletcher and Bryson Rodgers, who joined the class less than two hours before him.

Cornerbacks coach Tim Walton is now on the recruiting board among the five new Ohio State assistant coaches. Offensive line coach Justin Fyre was first by collecting long-time lean Luke Montgomery in February. Safeties coach Perry Eliano got his first win on April 6 with in-state target Malik Harford, while Hawkins also shut down his recruitment. Now Walton lands his first Buckeye, from a state he spent plenty of time in as an NFL assistant along with the aid of running backs coach Tony Alford, who’s had plenty of success down there.

The Buckeyes’ 2023 class is up to nine commits so far worth 179.20 points. The class started the day ranked seventh and now is second behind Texas Tech by 15.32 points.
