1-2 Finish For Price and Salort Lifts Flashes to 2nd in Columbus

COLUMBUS, OH… Of the 61 golfers competing at the Lady Buckeye Invitational this weekend, just one managed to shoot under par for the tournament, as Emily Price carded a stellar 68 on the final day to run through the top of the field win the event outright.

Price was followed closely by teammate Chloe Salort, who remained steady in all three rounds, with scores of 75, 72 and 74 adding up to a 221, good enough for the first 1-2 finish of the Flashes season.

“Our seniors played great and Emily put together an incredible final round,” Flashes head coach Casey VanDamme said. “It was great for her to get the victory.”

With the top two members of the team also making up the top two of the field, Kent State was able to finish the invitational in second, trailing only the hosts in Ohio State at the conclusion Sunday’s action.

The whole team looked good on the final day, with all five competitors posting a score south of 80 on Sunday to keep the whole team in the top two thirds of the field.

With this result, the Kent State women’s golf team closes out their regular season in style taking their first top-two finish and all the momentum that comes with it, into the MAC Championships next weekend.

The Flashes have won all 22 MAC titles to date and will look to keep the tradition when this year’s event tee’s off on Friday, April 27.
