Top six schools and decision date locked in for Top247 QB Christopher Vizzina

Birmingham (Ala.) Briarwood Christian Top247 2023 quarterback Christopher Vizzina has his six finalists, telling 247Sports the programs he’s highest on are “Auburn, Clemson, Ole Miss, Ohio State, Georgia and Notre Dame.”

“For about the past month it’s really been these six,” Vizzina sad.

The blue-chip passer also has a decision date, telling 247Sports he’ll announce his college decision this coming Tuesday “around 3:15 pm at my school.”

Clemson received two visits this past week and are trending on the 247Sports Crystal Ball. He has also visited Auburn, Ole Miss, Ohio State and Georgia this spring and has been to all his finalists at one point or another during his process.

As a junior Vizzina threw for 2,065 yards and 16 touchdowns to just four interceptions with another 600 yards rushing and 15 more scores. He is tabbed by the Top247 as the nation’s No. 7 quarterback and by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 52 prospect overall.

Vizzina will play in the All-American Bowl following his senior season and 247Sports National Analyst Cooper Petagna compares his game to Mitch Trubisky.

“Possesses adequate size and frame for the position, verified at 6-foot-3 and 200-pounds plus,” 247Sports National Analyst Cooper Petagna wrote in his evaluation. “Has the frame to add additional weight to his body at the next level. Displays good athleticism in the pocket and above average mobility as a runner.

“Appears to have a loose compact throwing motion. Shows the ability to get the ball out from a variety of angles. Exhibits good foot quickness and the ability to reset his feet in the pocket. Has the tendency to play rushed at times in the pocket but flashes good play tempo and ability to extend plays with his feet.

“Possesses good arm strength and velocity. Ball pops off his hand. Excels throwing the deep ball with touch and accuracy. Needs to continue to add some polish in the short to intermediate part of his game, but flashes the accuracy to be a consistent passer at the next level.

“Above average passer that has the ability to develop into a good passer at the next level. Provides a threat with his legs, not only as a runner, but with his ability to extend plays outside the pocket and throw off platform. Projects to a multi-year Power Five starter at the next level.”

Petagna also recently saw Vizzina at the Elite 11 Regional in Atlanta where Vizinna was invited to the finals this summer.

“Continuing to see his stock rise over the course of the last year, Birmingham (Ala.) native Christopher Vizzina displayed today why he’s one of the hottest names in the country,” Petagna wrote. “Vizzina, who’s listed at 6-foot-4 and 207-pounds, was in complete command of his performance from start to finish. The Briarwood High School standout showcased a live arm but with improved accuracy and ball placement, making crisp throw after throw at all three levels. Vizzina also appeared at ease in and outside the pocket, showing his athleticism on the perimeter as another added dimension to his game.”
