Florida star Colin Hurley calls Ohio State a dream school – Buckeye Scoop

MASSILLON, Ohio — The recent great run of quarterback play at Ohio State has certainly produced plenty of benefits for the Buckeyes on the recruiting trail. As Ryan Day and Corey Dennis continue to recruit some of the nation’s best in the 2023 and 2024 classes, the 2025 class is beginning to take shape as well.

On Friday, the Buckeyes hosted one of the best rising sophomore quarterback prospects in the nation, Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian standout Colin Hurley. The 6-foot, 205-pound prospect was impressed his time in Columbus.

“It was excellent.” said Hurley. “I got to talk to the coaches, go up on the white board, it was a really fun atmosphere.”

Hurley holds early offers from the likes of Georgia, Florida, Florida State, Ole Miss, and many others, making him already one of the highest recruited quarterbacks in the class nationally. Ohio State’s recent history on the offensive side of the ball makes the Buckeyes one of the teams with an inside track on the talented signal caller.

“Ohio State has always been a dream school of mine,” Hurley explained. “I’ve always loved the explosive offenses that they’ve had with coach Day as head coach. It’s a school that I’m really looking into. They’re very high on my list.”

Ohio State’s long time connection with Trinity Christian doesn’t hurt things, but Hurley reiterated that it’s more about the on-field product than TCA being an OSU pipeline school.

“I’ve always loved the quarterbacks that have come through Ohio State,” he continued. “A lot of great history here in Ohio. That’s really why they’ve been one of my dream schools.”

The Buckeyes haven’t yet offered Hurley but he was able to throw in front of Ryan Day on Saturday at the Elite 11 camp in Massillon, Ohio. Hurley took the opportunity to get the camp session in while he was in Ohio and Day was in attendance watching his son, R.J., throw at the camp.

Hurley was one of the camp’s most impressive prospects.

“I thought I spun the ball very well,” he recalled. “A lot of (the Elite 11) coaches were very impressed. It was the first time for them seeing me throw the ball in person.”

If an offer from Ohio State does come through?

“That would be a dream come true right there,” he said. “That has always been a dream of mine.”

Hurley added that he is working on a return trip to Ohio State in June to schedule it around one of the Buckeyes’ camp days so that he can throw and work with Day and Dennis.
