Ohio community rallies behind 7th grader with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma

A special fundraising event will be held on March 22 at Bud’s Corner.

LOUISVILLE, Ohio — The St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School community in Louisville is coming together to show their support for 13-year-old Zach Johnson as he battles stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

Zach, who is in the 7th grade, has completed chemotherapy and is now going through radiation treatments at Akron Children’s Hospital, according to school officials.

“Zach is working hard while going through chemotherapy and radiation to keep up in school and stay in good spirits,” according to a press release from St. Thomas Aquinas. “Staff and students have been doing all they can to help Zach and his family.”

In addition to sending treats, snacks and encouraging notes to Zach, they’re also working to help the family offset medical costs by hosting a #ZachStrong benefit on Tuesday, March 22, at Bud’s Corner from 5-8 p.m.

“Members of the community have donated basket items for raffles and donations will be accepted,” school officials said. “The community has offered amazing support, offering dozens of baskets to help raise funds for the Johnsons.”

The event is open to the public. Bud’s Corner is located at 5750 Columbus Road Northeast.

A GoFundMe has also been established in Zach’s name HERE.
