Michael Gholson was last seen on Zenner Drive on Aug. 24, 2021.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Authorities say a Columbus man who was reported missing more than six months ago has been found dead.

The Columbus Division of Police reported 59-year-old Michael Gholson was last seen on Zenner Drive on Aug. 24, 2021, just northeast of Williams Road and Groveport Road.

His wife, Traci Bender-Gholson, said he went for a walk while she was sleeping.

“I’m not getting any answers to the questions I want to ask because I know I’m never going to know really why he ever left,” she said.

His family says he was in a bad car crash several months before he went missing that left him with depression and other injuries.

On Tuesday, police confirmed human remains found near the intersection of Groveport Road and Augmont Avenue on Feb. 24 were identified as Gholson.

“I thought about that I thought if I found him before all of this that would bring me closure I still don’t have closure to this day I still don’t have closure,” said Bender-Gholson.

The official cause of death has not been determined at this point. Police say Gholson’s death is still under investigation.
