Special Olympics Ohio annual Polar Plunge at Indian Lake – WHIO TV 7 and WHIO Radio

LOGAN COUNTY — The Polar Plunge continues in its first year back, from being virtual due to COVID-19.

The 16th annual Polar Plunge will be held today at Indian Lake, the plunge scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Oldfield Beach.

Last year, participants took part virtually to support the organization. This year, a virtual option is still available for those who are unable or not comfortable attending the event.

Last month, seven plunges were held across the state to fundraise as friends and supporters submerge themselves in an icy body of water.

So far the group has raised over $15,000 in funds according to their website.

“We are absolutely ready to get back in the water with our community for our athletes,” said SOOH CEO Jessica Stewart.

The event helps support year-round sports training and competition, health education, and leadership programs for 20,000 Special Olympics Ohio athletes.
