St. Patrick’s Day 2022 Guide: Get your green on in Northeast Ohio with corned beef, beer,


CLEVELAND, Ohio — Everybody’s Irish on St. Patrick’s Day in Cleveland, home to one of the largest celebrations of the holiday in the nation. The highly anticipated return of the annual downtown parade combined with the relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions means it’ll really feel like St. Patrick’s Day for the first time in three years.

There will be plenty of green beer, corned beef and live music to “Erin Go Braugh” around all over town. The revelry starts at the top o’ the morning and lasts well into the night. Make the most of it with our lucky guide to the top St. Patrick’s Day festivities in Greater Cleveland.

Akron St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Akron gets a head start on the festivities on Saturday with the city’s first St. Patrick’s Day parade in three years. The procession features school bands, non-profit organizations, local businesses, animal groups, floats and more. The route starts at Cedar and Main and marches northbound on South Main Street to Bowery Street. Awards will be handed out afterward at Lock 3. The Ancient Order of Hibernians hosts a post-parade party at its clubroom at 2000 Brown St. with entertainment from Akron’s finest Irish talent along with typical Irish fare.

Cleveland St. Patrick’s Day Parade

A tradition that goes back to 1842 returns to downtown Cleveland for the first time since 2019. Over 110 organizations will participate in the parade, which will encompass floats, bands, clubs, kids’ units and animals marching to the theme of “Ireland’s Scenic Coastlines.”

This hip Warehouse District bar hosts one of the coolest St. Patrick’s Day parties in the city. There will be kegs and eggs with green beer starting at 8 a.m. The Jameson, Guinness and Bud Light will be flowing throughout the day.

Flannery’s Pub

For many Clevelanders over the last 25 years, St. Patrick’s Day has started at Flannery’s Pub in the E. 4th St. entertainment district. Opening in 1910, the Flat Iron is the oldest Irish bar in Cleveland. The festivities kick off with Kegs & Eggs in the morning and continue with live music from Donal O’Shaughnessy at 11 a.m. The bar will also be providing shuttle service to and from the parade. Cleveland Firefighters Memorial Pipes & Drums will stop afterward to perform. The kitchen’s St. Patrick’s Day menu includes corned beef sandwiches and platters, plus Irish stew, Lake Erie perch, fish ‘n chips and burgers.

Celebrate at the city’s original brewpub and microbrewery, where there will be plenty of Conway’s Irish Ale and Wolfhound Stout on tap. The holiday menu includes a traditional corned beef dinner, plus an Irish burger, Reuben, Shepherd’s Pie and more.
