Mo Njie Earns All-MAC Postseason Honor


CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) —  Eastern Michigan University men’s basketball freshman Mo Njie (Centerville, Ohio-Centerville DME Sports Academy) earned Mid-American Conference postseason honors the league announced Wednesday, March 9. Njie was selected as a member of the All-MAC Freshman Team. 

Njie is the first EMU player to receive the honor since James Thompson IV in 2016. Additionally, he is the fifth in program history to garner the award. 

The center started 25 of the 28 games he played in this season, averaging 6.6 points per game, and 5.3 rebounds per contest. The Centerville, Ohio native earned two double-doubles during the 2021-22 campaign, the first against FIU, Dec. 11 (10 points, 11 rebounds), and at Miami, March 4, (16 points, 10 rebounds). 

Njie finished the season eighth in the conference in blocks per game (1.1), and total blocks (30), which led the team. Furthermore, he was one of two freshmen in the MAC to be ranked in the top-10 in rejections. The freshman recorded a personal-best four blocks twice this season, at Michigan State (Nov. 20), and at Buffalo (Feb. 8).
