COLUMBUS — “Ukraine isn’t dead yet. It will not die. Let’s fight for this,” one of the demonstrators shouted in Columbus.

A crowd of more than 100 people gathered at the Ohio Statehouse Saturday, our news partners at WBNS reported.

Demonstrators, people of Ukrainian descent and many Ohioans met to show their solidarity with Ukraine.

They held up signs like “Lithuanians for Ukraine”, “Ohioans Support Ukraine” and “Is Ukraine a Game to You?”.

Some in attendance from Ukraine said they were still in disbelief that Russia attacked their home country.

Marina Stetsenko is from the east-central part of Ukraine and was at the rally.

She told WBNS that her parents are still in Ukraine and have had to hide in a basement to stay safe.

She said the people of Ukraine need intervention from the U.S.

“Ukraine needs equipment, military equipment, this is what Ukraine actually needs,” Stetsenko told WBNS.

Saturday, President Joe Biden approved $350 million in military aid for Ukraine.

As of Feb. 26, at least 240 civilians were injured and 68 killed during the intense fighting in Ukraine, according to the United Nations.

A woman of Russian descent at the rally said she knows the right place to be — side by side with the people of Ukraine, asking for peace.
