Colonels Drop Series Finale To Ohio

RICHMOND, Ky. –

After winning the first two games of the series, the baseball team lost the finale to Ohio, 4-0, on Sunday at Earle Combs Stadium.
 
EKU will host Marshall on Tuesday at 4 p.m. in the first of back-to-back rivalry games.  The first 250 fans will receive FREE EKU Mardi Gras beads.  Western Kentucky will visit Richmond on Wednesday.  Baseball tickets can be purchased at EKUSports.com/2022BaseballTix.  For questions regarding tickets, call 844-3-GOBIGE.
 
Ohio (2-4) pulled out in front in the top of the fifth.  With a 1-0 lead, the Bobcats added three more on an RBI single through the left side by Alex Finney and a two-run double off the bat of Mason Minzey.
 
Bobcat starter Jacob Tate scattered four hits over seven innings, walked one and struck out nine.  Finney finished 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.
 
Roderick Criss II went 2-for-4 for the Colonels (3-4).  The pitching staff totaled 12 strikeouts on the day.  The trio of Christian Jones, Niko Leontarakis and Jordan Fox combined to pitch the final four innings and allowed just two hits with six strikeouts.  Fox struck out three in two innings of relief.
