Ohio State women’s basketball beats Wisconsin on senior day

Despite Ohio State holding their senior day festivities Sunday, Buckeye fans will have one more chance to watch Tanaya Beacham and Braxtin Miller at Value City Arena.

OSU hosts Penn State Thursday at 6 p.m. in a game that was originally scheduled for Jan. 3 but that was postponed because of an outbreak of COVID-19 among the Nittany Lions players.

The Buckeyes will enter that contest having won five of their last six, including the aforementioned senior day game. Ohio State (20-5, 12-4 Big Ten) beat Wisconsin (7-19, 4-12) by a final score of 59-42.

Jacy Sheldon led Ohio State Sunday, scoring 19 points. Beacham scored 10, reaching double figures for the seventh time this season. She also tied her season-high with seven rebounds.

“I’m the happiest I’ve ever been in my college career right now,” Beacham said. “I think to end it off at a place that I’m so happy is the best feeling ever.”

Miller recorded seven rebounds as well. She scored 3 points.

“They’re two great kids and two great leaders,” said coach Kevin McGuff. “They’ve been the heart and soul of our team from a competitive character standpoint the last couple years. They play harder every day. They compete. They play to win. They are great teammates and have meant an incredible amount to us.”
