Swimming Earns Seven Top Five Finishes at Ohio State Winter Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio – – Ball State’s swimmers combined for seven top five efforts at the three-day Ohio State Winter Invitational.
 
Leading the way was senior women’s swimmer Meri Gray who placed fourth in both the 100 (57.19) and 200 (2:05.57) backstrokes. She also combined to help the Cardinals finish third in the 200 medley relay (1:49.05) and 200 freestyle relay (1:37.51).
 
On the men’s side, junior Dillon Freiberger claimed the Cardinals’ best individual effort of the weekend by placing second in the 1650 freestyle (16:53.61).
 
Ball State also received a third-place effort from freshman Eli Germain in the 200 fly (1:52.40) and a fifth-place effort from senior Philip Choroser in the 200 back (1:55.65).
 
Next up for the Cardinals, the 2022 Mid-American Conference Championships. The women’s meet is Feb. 23-26 at Bowling Green, while the men’s meet runs March 2-5 at Southern Illinois.
