Puppy found in crate at curb recovering at Ohio humane society


A starving puppy that was found in a crate at a curb is now getting a second chance at life while he recovers at an Ohio humane society.The 3-month-old puppy arrived at Animal Charity of Ohio in late January after someone found the crate at the curb. The puppy had been starved to near death and was placed in the freezing cold.The humane society named the puppy Xavier.At first, it appeared Xavier would not make it. At one point, the dog was only taking four to five breaths a minute. The humane society worked to get him warmed up to be able to get a catheter in.On Thursday, the humane society provided an update saying Xavier was declining. They said he was not able to regulate his own body temperature.By Friday, the humane society wrote on Facebook that Xavier was making some small improvements and on Saturday, the puppy was released to the care of one of the humane society’s medical fosters.On Sunday, Xavier’s medical fosters shared a video of Xavier up walking around and wagging his tail. He was dressed in an adorable gray and orange sweater to keep him warm.You can watch the video in the video player above.Xavier will continue to receive medical care and make improvements each day, thanks to Animal Charity of Ohio.
