CLYDE — After six years as Clyde-Green Springs’ superintendent, Dennis Haft is switching gears and taking a job with the Ohio Department of Education.

The Clyde-Green Springs school board accepted Haft’s resignation Monday.

Haft starts work in Columbus Feb. 28 as the state coordinator for The high Schools That Work Program, a national school improvement model organized around key practices and conditions that improve how students are prepared for work, careers and further education.

He said he had some informal conversations with a senior director at ODE, who thought Haft would be a good fit for the coordinator position.

“One more adventure before I retire,” Haft said Tuesday.

When Haft accepted the Clyde-Green Springs superintendent’s job in June 2016, he said he applied for the position because he thought he could make a major impact on a district level, as opposed to on a building level as he did as a school principal for roughly 450 students.
