MOBO opens medical gym, offers health treatments, at Powerhouse Gym


Gina Kicos is a franchise owner for MOBO Med Spa, a service that provides medical aesthetic services related to muscle toning, weight loss and beauty treatments. She has opened a medical gym at Powerhouse Gym in Jackson Township.

JACKSON TWP. – A medical gym affiliated with MOBO Med Spa has opened at Powerhouse Gym.

The facility offers health and beauty services, such as muscle toning, weight loss and beauty treatments. It’s the first for MOBO, which generally offers mobile services at salons, gyms or spas.

MOBO Medical Spa started in the Columbus area in 2017 offering medical aesthetic services through a mobile operation that visited clients.

The first MOBO franchise went to Gina Kicos, a Stark County resident. Initially Kicos — a certified nurse practitioner — opened a hub site in the Total Health & Wellness Center in Jackson Township. Customers could receive treatment at the hub, or Kicos could meet them at a location.

Some of Kicos’ clients were members of Powerhouse Gym at 6339 Promler Ave. NW. The gym’s owner, Chris Maggiore, suggested that Kicos could use space at Powerhouse for a medical gym.

MOBO services include IV hydration drips, lipotropic injections and radio frequency body sculpting, along with different muscle toning and medical weight loss programs.

Kicos started her career as a registered nurse working in emergency rooms and internal medicine offices. She became a certified nurse practitioner in 2013 and has training in several medical aesthetics programs.

Helping clients maintain good physical condition is a form of preventive medicine, Kicos said. “We work on health and wellness in a different fashion,” she said. 

Memberships to Powerhouse Gym aren’t required to visit the MOBO medical gym. The site encourages appointments, but walk-ins are welcome on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Building Trades Council elects officers

The East Central Ohio Building & Construction Trade Council has new officers as 2022 begins.

Jerry Durieux has been elected president after serving as recording secretary. Damon Wrobel will serve as vice president, Aaron Brown is treasurer and Theron Hodge now is recording secretary. Continuing as trustees are Justin Gartrell, Mike Freeman, and Jake Croston.

Officers serve terms lasting for two years.

The East Central Ohio Building & Construction Trades Council works with 22 local unions in Stark, Carroll, Coshocton, Holmes, Tuscarawas, and Wayne counties.

Breeze plans to use new Airbus for Tampa route starting in May

When Breeze Airways begins using newer aircraft this spring, one of the jets will be serving Akron-Canton Airport.

The airline is purchasing 80 Airbus A220 jets and will have 15 of the planes in service before the year ends. On May 4, one of the new A220 jets will fly Breeze’s route between Akron-Canton and Tampa.
