Northeast Ohio teachers: We want to hear your stories about teaching during the

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The coronavirus pandemic has upended nearly every aspect of how teachers can educate their students. Yet educators continue to work to give kids the very best education and experiences possible in a remote or socially-distanced classroom.

What has been the toll on the teachers?

Teachers are among the frontline workers of the COVID-19 pandemic. As schools juggle COVID quarantines and changing regulations, as kids miss school and struggle to catch up, teachers are managing it all.

Two years after schools went remote to quell the spread of COVID, Ohio schools remain on high alert as COVID-19 numbers continue to climb. The state has been averaging more than 17,000 new COVID-19 cases per day over the past three weeks, according to data from the Ohio Department of Health.

The latest weekly update from ODH shows 16 school districts reporting more than 200 student and staff cases and 38 reporting more than 100.

Cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer are looking to speak with Northeast Ohio teachers about what it’s been like to teach during the pandemic.

If you are an educator affected by COVID-19 and would be willing to share their story about what it’s been like, please email reporter Alexis Oatman at [email protected]. The goal is to provide a complete look at the toll COVID-19 has taken on teachers.
