Cha Spirits & Pizza Kitchen to open in Ohio City’s Tinnerman Lofts

CLEVELAND, Ohio — After several years of closure, Cha Spirits & Pizza Kitchen has found a new home — this time, in Tinnerman Lofts, an artsy apartment complex in Ohio City.

The restaurant — which has been closed since 2018 — announced its new home in a Facebook post:

“We are so excited to have Cha return to Ohio City this spring. It’s been a long few years riddled with twists and turns, ups and downs, and delays, delays, delays but the journey is going to be well worth it. We are thrilled to be a part of an amazing restoration project and as pioneers of Ohio City proud to maintain the historical integrity of one of our many neighborhood gems.”

An opening date has not been set.

Formerly, Cha was located on Whitman Ave. in Ohio City, and before that, it was located in Cleveland’s Battery Park development. The restaurant — owned by Susan Walters — is known for its pizza, pasta and small-plate dishes, along with its wine selections.

Though it closed up shop in 2018, the restaurant always had plans on making a return. It shared a Facebook banner photo stating “HANG AROUND. We’ll be back” just over a month after it closed in 2018.

Now, Cha will fulfill that promise. Recent posts have showed the restaurant team fixing up the restaurant space, located in a building adjacent to Tinnerman Lofts, a recent historic rehabilitation project that transformed the former Tinnerman Stove factory building into an apartment complex.

Cha will take over 2054 Fulton Road. According to Cuyahoga County land records, the building was constructed in 1910.

The restaurant shared more details in its Facebook announcement:

“Cha at Tinnerman will have all the glam of our Battery Park location and all the charm of Whitman Avenue, both of which we kept on this page, as the location may have changed but the great memories, friendships, and spirit never waned. Along with our amazing pizza and other treats, Cha at Tinnerman boasts luscious gardens, relaxing alfresco dining areas, an outdoor forno oven, along with a full-service bar, private dining rooms, and retail for all your wine needs!”
