New company managing Dayton Mall in Miami Twp. – WHIO TV 7 and WHIO Radio

MIAMI TWP., Montgomery County — The Dayton Mall is now being managed and leased by a new company after years of Washington Prime Group running the indoor mall at the intersection of state Routes 741 and 725.

Spinoso Real Estate Group, which runs 32 malls in the United States, is now running the mall, according to the mall’s website. It was not immediately clear when the change happened, but the Dayton Mall website is now listed as “coming soon.”

News Center 7 has reached out to both Spinoso and Washington Prime for comment on the change.

Washington Prime Group is still listed as managing the Mall at Fairfield Commons in Beavercreek.

The change comes about six months after Washington Prime Group filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has created significant challenges for many companies, including Washington Prime Group, making a Chapter 11 filing necessary to reduce the Company’s outstanding indebtedness,” a statement from Washington Prime in June read. “Throughout the restructuring process, the Company remains committed to serving as a preeminent operator of retail town centers and will continue to serve its guests.”

It was not immediately clear if the change in managing partners for the Dayton Mall was a result of the bankruptcy or if it was driven by a different business decision.

Spinoso’s only other Ohio mall is the Southpark Mall in Cleveland, according to its website.
