Mansfield man killed in Ohio 39 crash | News


MANSFIELD —  Mansfield man was killed on Monday afternoon after a crash on Ohio 39 at approxinately 3:44 p.m., according to a press release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Gregory D Mayner, 59, succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash near Mansfield-Lucas Road, in Monroe Township.

According to the Patrol, Mayner was driving a 2013 International 4300 flat-bed truck northwest on Ohio 39 when the vehicle went off the right side of the road, struck an embankment and overturned. Mayner was extricated from the vehicle by Fire and EMS personnel, but succumbed to his injuries on scene.

Monroe Township Fire and EMS, Richland County Sheriff’s Office, Richland County Coroner’s Office, Ohio Department of Transportation and Shelly Smith Towing responded to the scene and assisted. State Route 39 was closed while the crash was being investigated.

The crash remains under investigation.

It was a tragic day on Richland County’s roads. Earlier on Monday, a Bucyrus woman was killed in a U.S. 30 crash near I-71.
