Dough Mama South closes; Watershed Kitchen & Bar to reopen

After opening last August, Dough Mama's location in the Brewery District has closed.

Executive chef Jack Moore of Watershed Kitchen & Bar (1145 Chesapeake Ave.) is in the process of reopening the distillery restaurant, which has remained closed for more than a year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. In an interview last week, Moore said he plans to reopen the Grandview area restaurant and bar in June, before the first day of summer. In the wake of the restaurant shutdown in March 2020, Moore turned the Watershed kitchen into a commissary for feeding laid off staff members. He kept the kitchen open for several weeks until the food ran out. During his time away, Moore launched his own brand of hot sauce: Black Cap Hot Sauce. A new business called Blended and Blessed opened Saturday at 214 Thurman Ave., formerly Native Cold Pressed. Founded by Ohio State student Camryn Analise, the new shop sells shakes, tea drinks and protein-packed coffees. The Lantern has more details here.

Law Bird’s popular grab-and-go wine and cocktail shop, a pandemic shift that helped keep the business afloat, has shut down so that the space can transition back into a bar. Customers can still order to-go cocktails and wine online, however. Owners Annie Williams Pierce and Luke Pierce said recently that they plan to reopen the grab-and-go shop as a stand-alone business once they find a location. Starting this week, Law Bird (740 S. High St.) will commence with several reservation-only events, beginning with Star Wars Week. Customers can make reservations at lawbirdbar.com in 1.5-hour increments.

Shake Shack is adding a third Central Ohio location, this one a drive-thru restaurant at 1370 Polaris Parkway, according to Columbus Business First. The Danny Meyer-owned burger joint already has two Central Ohio locations in the Short North and Easton.

Black Box Fix, a Cleveland-based gourmet sandwich spot, opened over the weekend at 4037 Fenlon St., next to American Girl at Easton Town Center.

Closings

Dough Mama’s Brewery District location shuttered for good on Sunday. In a social media post last week, owner Perrie Wilkof announced her decision to shut down the location, which opened last August at 730 S. High St. Wilkof said she plans to pursue a master’s degree at Ohio State, and decided that running two locations would not be feasible. Wilkof’s flagship bakery and café in Clintonville remains open at 3335 N. High St. It will resume dine-in service on Saturday, May 8.
