Genjigo opens Downtown; Hong Kong House to close

Openings & Announcements 

The hibachi bowl restaurant Genjigo has opened Downtown at 77 E. Gay St., formerly Plantain Café. This is Genjigo’s eighth fast-casual restaurant, but its first inside I-270.  

The Dairy Hut, a Pataskala institution, is under new ownership and has reopened for the season at 42 S. Main St. Its longtime owners, Gary and Karen Bocock, have retired after 42 years and recently sold the old-school ice cream stand to Jeff and Caitlyn Heimerl. Several other seasonal ice cream spots have reopened for the season, including Double Happy (1280 Brown Road), Cream & Sugar (2185 Sullivant Ave.), Hilltop Dairy Twist (2860 Sullivant Ave.) and Jeni’s walk-up window in German Village (900 Mohawk St.).  

Walking Distance Brewing Co. is expected to open this spring in Marysville, according to the brewery’s website. Located in Uptown Marysville at 222 E. Eighth St., the brewery features beers such as the Ohio Boii American Ale, Clydesdale Stout and Marysville Imperialist Midwest Coast Rye IPA (aka a RyePA).
