Iowa reports 679 new positive COVID-19 tests, 6 additional deaths


The Iowa Department of Public Health on Saturday reported 679 new positive COVID-19 tests and six additional deaths.At 10 a.m., IDPH reported 385,270 total positive tests, 337,573 total recoveries and 5,849 total deaths since the start of the pandemic. A day earlier, IDPH reported 384,591 total positive tests and 5,843 total deaths.State data shows 1,794,368 vaccine doses have been administered in the state, with 733,783 individuals completing the vaccine series. The 14-day average is holding steady at 4.7%. Iowa reports 4,574,961 COVID-19 tests administered.The number of Iowans hospitalized with COVID-19 declined from 228 to 218 in the last 24 hours. There are 52 patients in ICU and 19 patients on ventilators.A third long-term care facility is now reporting a COVID-19 outbreak in Iowa. Parkview Manor, in Washington County, reports five positive cases. There are 27 positive cases among residents and staff within the three facilities.
