ATHENS, Ohio — The No. 3-seeded Ohio volleyball team (12-7, 12-7 MAC) will take on No. 2-seeded Western Michigan (17-4, 17-4 MAC) in the 2020-21 Mid-American Conference Championship Semifinals on Friday (April 2) at the Stroh Center in Bowling Green, Ohio. The match will get underway at 7 p.m. ET and be streamed live on ESPN+.

The contest between the Bobcats and Broncos follows the first semifinal matchup that pits No. 1-seeded Bowling Green (20-1, 20-1 MAC) against No. 4-seeded Miami (13-8, 13-8 MAC) at 4:30 p.m. ET. The survivors of the semifinals will square off in the 2020-21 MAC Championship match on Saturday (April 3) at 5 p.m. ET. The winner of the conference tournament clinches the MAC’s automatic bid to the 2020-21 NCAA Championship. Ohio is seeking its 10th conference tournament championship in program history and first since 2015.

The Bobcats and the Broncos split the regular season series in a pair of meetings at the Convocation Center last month. Ohio prevailed, 3-1, in the opener March 19, but Western Michigan bounced back with a 3-2 victory the following day. The two programs last faced off in the MAC tournament in 2014, with Western Michigan rallying from a 2-0 deficit to record a 3-2 win in the semis.

Ohio’s roster boasts four 2020-21 All-MAC selections. Senior middle blocker Tia Jimerson (Sugar Hill, Ga.) was named to the All-MAC First Team while senior setter Vera Giacomazzi (San Vendemiano, Italy) was named to the All-MAC Second Team. Middle blocker Caitlin O’Farrell (Suwanee, Ga.) and defensive specialist/libero Sam Steele (Omaha, Neb.) both earned spots on the All-Freshman Team.
