NOLA Mayor LaToya Cantrell lobbying on social media for Saints to trade for

The 2021 NFL offseason has reached peak levels of entertainment!Already the league has seen blockbuster trades involving quarterbacks Matthew Stafford and Carson Wentz and after reports surfaced this week linking Seattle Seahawks star Russell Wilson to the Saints, New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell decided to get involved. On Saturday she posted a video to all her social media accounts lobbying for Wilson and his wife, Ciara, to come to the city. In the video (see attached clip) Cantrell filmed in front of a Saints banner, she’s twirling a Saints black and gold second line umbrella and says Wilson could help lead New Orleans to a Super Bowl victory and Ciara could headline the annual Essence Festival. On Thursday morning, The Athletic reported a growing rift between the Seattle Seahawks front office and star quarterback Russell Wilson could lead to the quarterback being traded. An eight-time Pro Bowl selection who led Seattle to a championship in Super Bowl XLVIII, Wilson is reportedly unhappy with the way Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll has built the offense and with the way team general manager John Schneider has constructed the roster.Wilson has a no-trade clause in the 4-year, $140 million contract he signed in 2019, but the article says teams he and his representatives are interested in if the situation in Seattle becomes untenable are the Las Vegas Raiders, Chicago Bears, Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints. The Saints will presumably have an opening at quarterback since it’s expected Drew Brees will retire from the NFL sometime during the offseason.
