Evacuation warnings issued for parts of Alameda County
Cal Fire issued an evacuation warning on Saturday for parts of Santa Clara and Alameda counties, including Fremont.
The warning comes as high winds are expected beginning Sunday morning, raising the risk of the SCU lightning complex fire spreading deeper into more populous Bay Area communities. The warning means residents should be prepared to leave their homes, and precedes a possible evacuation order.
The alert covers parts of Fremont east of the Mission Blvd. and Mission Rd. intersection south to the intersection of Mission Blvd and Curtner Rd, and east of Curtner Rd. south along I-680 up to the Santa Clara County line, according to Fremont police. For the complete map, click here.
The warnings go up to but do not include the cities of Livermore and Pleasanton, Cal Fire announced Saturday night.
The National Weather Service has also issued a red flag warning from 5 a.m. Sunday through 5 p.m. Monday for the entire Bay Area, with high winds and more dry thunderstorms expected.
