Watch Hot Zone: Suspect in fatal hit-and-run arrested; fury mounts at de Blasio

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The coronavirus pandemic has turned our world upside-down. We need information like we never have before.

How many new cases were there on Staten Island today? How many deaths? How many people have been released from the hospital?

What did President Donald Trump say about the pandemic? What about Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio?

More importantly, when is this pandemic going to be over? When are we going to get back to normal, whatever normal is?

It’s almost too much to keep up with.

So twice a day, Mark Stein and I take to Facebook Live to give you all the Island information you need. Look for us around 2 p.m. and again at around 5:30 p.m. Then look for this wrap-up on SILive.com at the end of the day.

We’ll give you the numbers and all the latest news. We’ll answer your questions. We’ll follow up on your news tips.

We’ll share the good news too, the way that the Staten Island community is coming together in this time of crisis. Or we’ll just share this strange and unique pandemic moment with you, as fellow Staten Islanders.

On Wednesday, Mark and I reported on the arrest of a suspect in an April hit-and-run accident that resulted in the death of Christina Dahlstrom, a single mother of two young girls.

Detectives from the 123rd Precinct took Tashawn Beckford, of Newark, N.J., into custody and charged him in the case.

Police allege that Beckford was driving a stolen SUV that hit the SUV that Dahlstrom was traveling in on April 25 at Annadale Road and Arden Avenue.

See the video above for that report.

In the videos below, Mark and I talked about the continuing controversy over de Blasio saying that we may not see indoor dining in New York City until a coronavirus vaccine is developed, which could be months from now.

We also talked about the Santander Bank scam that led to mayhem on Staten Island and in New Jersey on Tuesday. The scam, spread by an online video, involved the improper use of pre-paid debit cards.

There was also conversation about how city public school teachers want all staff and students in the city tested for COVID-19 before the opening of school, even if that means delaying the beginning of the school year.

We’re all in this together. We’ll all get through this together.

BREAKING: Man in custody in Annadale hit-and-run that killed young mom of two.
